Default CRD Engine Temp

Took the Jeep for a run on Wednesday when Sydney had high temperatures.
At home the outside temperature on the Jeeps digital read out was 36 degrees Celsius. When I was traveling through Menangle it was 41. Then at Campbelltown it was 39.
Parked the Jeep and done some business.

Return journey was on average 37. On both journeys, had the air conditioning on full, 2 Adults on board and on purpose pushed the Jeep on the hills.

At all times the temperature gauge was 2 needles below half way mark.
Traffic was normal ( NO stop and Go)

Just letting you know for reference purpose.

And for those that have the petrol, I climbed the Great Alpine Rd to Mt. Hotham in 31c with the a/c on, 2 adults and 2 kids on board, and towing the camper trailer, and I too am happy to say the temp needle didn't move one bit!!

Was towing around a ton going in the Adelaide Hills with the AC on, and the a buzzer came in to warn me of overheating. This was about 12 months ago, it has never happened since.

Default temp

Hi all - a bit of an FYI:

My temp gauge hadn't moved beyond half until Wednesday this week.

42 deg, heavy trailer on the back with two adults on board and the needle went 2 thicknesses above the half mark which alarmed me a little.

However, thanks to my Scan Gauge I could see exactly what was going on:

Normal slow speed work (50-70 kph) = 76 deg C
Freeway with 2 - 4 adults (100 - 110kph) = 86 deg C
Freeway with 2 - 4 adults (same speed above but with temp at 30+) = 95 deg C
42 deg C at freeway speeds with load = 107 deg max which was the 2 needle thicknesses above the halfway mark.

The basic observation was that up until about 100 deg C the needle didn't move however after this point it climbs a little. Very interesting

Reminder to the diesel drivers: park nose into the wind and let the engine idle for a minute or two to allow the turbocharger to cool after running like that. Allows the oil temps to start to reduce before shutdown, otherwise they heat up a bit as they absorb the heat generated.
