Default Starter motor problem.

Was having what I thought to be a failing starter.
Crawl under car to look but gear box guard needs to come off.
Cover off ,Frick where is the starter.
You can just barely see solenoid.
Tapped solenoid with socket extension bar .
Started again for a while then same problem again.
Few months later was getting sick of the tap and go.
Thought I'd bite the bullet and get it replaced as I could not see myself being able to do.
It is engine mount off, jack up engine job.
Jeep dealer wanted 2500, best other quote was 975 including new starter.
Well needed to use car and it needed the tap and go again.
While under there I decided to unconnect and reconnect electrical connectors a few times.
Feel job as you can't see.
Problem solved ,hasn't missed a beat since.
Hope this may help some one down the track.
Still the awesome car it always was.
Cheers

Great stuff I was going to mention check the connections as I have heard this loose connection thing before but with most starter motors that require the tap and go, no need for replacing the whole starter... getting the damn thing out is where the cost is, throw on bench usually the gear won't throw and the solenoid needs replacing, rarely is it needing a whole new starter and solenoids are pretty generic unit...... depends what the starter does when you turn the key as to what the problem is....
But the first check is the connection and voltage available then you go further.... but starters are repairable.
