I realise that this is an old thread, but is there a way of seeing the photos that were uploaded for this EGR defeat thread? Photobucket isn't playing nice and there are no photos to be found. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this page, about one-third down: https://jtccc.wordpress.com/our-cars...rand-cherokee/
My WG has 245000km on the clock, but I am still planning the EGR delete. The EGR takes a second or two to close, so a sudden jump on the power yields a puff of smoke until it closes.
I'm also considering trying a can of the spray cleaner after the EGR delete mod: http://www.phoenixlubricants.com.au/...oductnumber=13

Hi guys I'm new to this forum and it's my first jeep grand Cherokee and love the car. Unfortunately it came with a few problems which I'm working through. I am very interested in doing this mod but I'm not particularly good with a soldering iron and am confused where to get the parts. Google throws up loads of results when I enter the part numbers but when I follow the links show different variations of the part numbers. I was wondering if anyone could make this mod for me if I PayPal some money over to them. Cheers guy's

The parts are easy to find at any electronics shop such as Jaycar. Even if you get someone to make the mod, you then need to get it installed. I'd probably suggest you find an auto electrician to do this for you.
Where are you out of curiosity?

I'm with Driver on this topic. I did the mod, then undid it. There was no difference either way.

When i got my 2.7crd it had about 218,000km, at wide open throttle it would blow smoke. Seems a lot of guys here had to replace injectors near same kms. Bugger, up for new injectors when i can afford them. Did the EGR delete and swirl delete(flaps stay open all the time). After sometime noticed smoke reduction, even at WOT towing 2.5ton caravan up long steep hills. Now at 253,000km NO noticable smoke at WOT even towing caravan up the same long steep hills. Also noticed speed at the top of one particularly long steep hill near Bairnsdale is 5 to 10 kph higher with the van in tow. I think what is happening is that all the terrible crud from the EGR is slowly being washed away by the blowby oil and has restored the inlet system. The leakdown test on injectors was good and same with the numbers from Kadios software. When i get around to it the inlet manifold will be changed out for a modified one and the condition of the inlet system will be revealed.

Was about to do this mod but the photos from the OP are gone. Does anyone have them saved down?
