Default Speedhawk piggy back ECU - any good?

Me again, I seem to post sporadically when I get in the Jeep mood.

Has anyone installed one of these Speedhawk piggyback units on their 3.0 CRD? Curious to know if they are any good.

Cheers,

Robert

I had something similar on a Holden Cruze diesel when I bought it

I immediately removed it and had a flash tune fitted that car is now in the hands of a close friends wife done 60,000 k,s in 5 years trouble free

I have a green diesel flash tune in my WH CRD and wouldn’t trust anything else done nearly 100,000 k,s since fitting it and the thing still goes fantastic and gets fantastic economy

Piggy back computers are old technology or are there for when they haven’t cracked the OEM computer

Our WH CRD have been cracked for a few years now and looking at the cost of it the flash is not much dearer and came with a installer which reads codes and can clear codes as well

I got in contact with green diesel and see if they had any updates which they did for a $100 US I got the latest incarnation of there WH CRD economy tune downloaded it to the flash tuner and installed it myself in half an hour

I noticed the engine seemed a bit quieter and smoother if you bought a green diesel tune now it would be the latest tune from them

CRD STU is the go to guy for these things

Best fit a provent first and drain the oil out of the inter-cooler and piping first the tune also disables the EGR a known diesel killer
