Default WH Grand Clock Spring broken

The Jeep dealer tells me I have a broken "clock spring". It is behind the steering wheel and cancels the indicators.
I have removed the indicator bulbs as you can imagine driving around with your left hand indicator permanently on and unable to be cancelled can be a bit scarey, to say the least.
They quoted me $3,100 to replace it. Does anyone have any ideas? I will ring Jeeeparts but any other solutions would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Jeep wreckers hervey bay they will sell you the column maybe the clock spring on its own if they have damaged column either way its going to be cheaper

If you are not mechanically minded take it over to Paul at CJD you wont be paying dealer labour costs either pretty straight forward job done a few of them over the years

Clock spring is a fairly common problem with the JK fraternity, $3k is not unheard of but the JK guys have figured out that its not that hard a job.

the 08 & up clock spring is the same as the JK but unfortunately the 05 to 07 are not

I think Part number 05143320AF is what you are after, but I would confirm with your Jeep dealer before I order (if they will confirm)

Around the $450/$500 us dollar mark

Thanks for the responses. Amazing. Surely you should not have to purchase the complete steering column with airbag, fuse block etc. That is crazy. And I would be very nervous going anywhere near the airbag. Thanks again. Jeeeparts tomorrow.

They're not hard to repair rather than replace, it's basically just a long ribbon wound up (like a clock-spring.).
Usually just a broken wire or connector on either end, it's not magic... at-least certainly not 3 grand or even ~$500 worth.
You can often get just replacement cables with connectors to put in your existing assembly, never looked for ones for the WH, but I'm sure some clever Chinese dudes have covered it.

This is a pretty good write-up showing how they work;

And there's some good photos of it on the WH (actually a WK, but whatevs.);
