what is the stock hieght to the centre skid plate on a Stock 2 door?

My OME lift was meant to be 2" sure its higher than that.

Now have 295mm clearance with 265x75r16's which add @ 1/2 (12mm) according 1010tires.

easy way to work height gained is to measure from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the flare. Then find a stock one and do the same this method pratically eliminates tyre size difference.

A good source of info for what causes dw issues is on the AEV forum has some very clear descriptions.

Yom it's a lot more than 15mm over target height even with standard spring. The heavy duty springs lift a standard jk closer to 100mm. I don't know too many 4wd that don't require some sort of geometry correction at above 60mm. With this extra height it is no wonder issues are appearing and if anything is lurking that is not quite right on the stock ones it is going to magnify it.
hey mate,

Actually Yom isn't far off it, I think your just underestimating what he's said, you see an OME kit is SUPPOSED to lift you 2.5 inchs, or 62.5mm.

After mine was first dont, I was at about 4 inch's or 100mm. Now with spring settling (and the springs certainly have settled since the DW started) I am sitting at about 3 - 3.25 inchs which would be 75mm - 82.25mm (roughly of course )

One of the BIG differences between JK's and TJ's is that a JK doesn't need issues fixed on it such as SYE for over 2 inch's (sure you might want to do it over 4, but most people go for between 2 - 4 inchs of lift).

At the end of the day, I might agree with you if EXACTLY the same issue wasn't occuring with stock vehicles, but at the end of the day, it is.

Cheers!

So, after fitting the lift kit you were at 100mm or so, the springs have now settled and you are now riding at about 3.5 inches.Have you replaced any other suspension componants like control arms??The reason why I ask is JAG's up here has the same kit on his 4 door and it has done the same things as yours with ride heights but he has had to fit front and rear adjustable control arms to line up the diffs again.I assume these things would have been checked out by now on your JK, Simsy.

As for the SYE, you are over 3 inches. If you don't have one fitted I'd say trouble could be just around the corner.Strongly recommended by alot of JKer's and JP magazine that you fit a SYE once you are over 3 inches in overall height. It makes me real nervous reading about you driving around without a SYE fitted.

Just a suggestion.

No need for a sye on a jk as they don't have a slip yolk , totaly different setup and if JAG is linning up the diffs it would be with adjustable pannards or track bars , control arms run parrallel with the chassis
