Default Power Steering Fluid Choice.

Hi Lads.
What is everyone using for power steering fluid in the WH CRD?

The genuine Mopar MS10838 stuff is £50 a litre!!!!

Does anyone know what the original Mopar stuff is? A bit like the transfer case stuff is Mobilfluid 424.

I have been told it is just central hydraulic fluid.

What are you lads using?

Thanks.

Mopar and Chrysler have always had their fluids described as meeting "MS" standing for "material specification" I think and the one for the P/S fluid required if you have the hydraulic cooling fan (Hemi & CRD) is MS 10838. To my knowledge this fluid was discontinued by Mopar and they now say to use ATF+4. However, when these vehicles came out, they advised against any AFT in this system, including AFT+4. However, both Lubeguard and Ravenol make fluids that meet the MS 10838 spec. I would try to use one of them if you can source it in your location.

Hi Lou.
I can get the Ravenol fluid ok. I just hope it mixes with the original mopar stuff ok.

Typical of Chrysler. If ATF4 is suitable after all, then they are guilty of either lying, or incompetence.
