Default PCV Valve

Damn plastic bits
Heat, vibrations and plastic just don't play well together
When changing the oil this week I noticed the PCV valve was stuffed
I'd epoxied it back together before but alas too many corrugated roads

You may notice the new PCV valve, genuine Mercedes part from Jeep,
has pre-clamped metal bands holding the hose and sensor
Simply fitted a 1mm cutting disc to the grinder and gently gently

This time I cable tied the hose to my catch can along the fuel rail
It meant having to re-route and lengthen the hose but hopefully
it'll eliminate most of the vibrations

Default Over It

A weekend playing in the sand
And I've launched another one
The balls and tunnels are OK
The cage has actually welded itself to the outer shell
Over It

If you installed the shaft the wrong way round with the plunge CV at the T/C would the problem move to the diff end

Valpacer's double cardan on the factory prop sounds like the best option, my custom one vibrated to much so I went back to a stock one.

There's too much heat generated within the CV
The grease is drying out, lack of lubrication and bang
Not sure if the heat is radiating from transmission & transfer case
Or is the heat is generated in the CV itself
Here is a chart showing angle versus speed differential
(speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down versus constant speed)
It's for an eight pivot joint
Our CV is only six, so that increases the speed differential

This CV only lasted 10 months
I know I'm hard the gear but gee-willikers

Re-greaseable double cardan unit could work
Maybe grease nipples on the CV are a short term solution ??
Time to start saving again

What grease are you using, when you replace.

Point of interest.
All the CV's I replaced had a short life span (from Repco or eBay) but the complete second hand unit I pulled from my 09 parts Jeep is still running strong after several years and it had 190,000km on it back then.

....touch wood...
