I run my eclipse deck off the cig lighter and used an interposing relay. To run acc and the amps, new power cable into the cabin to a dizzy block and viola it works. Done it this way on quite a few cars now and seems to be holding up ok on them. Doing a mates Lexus soon as well.

If your wiring straight to the speakers from the deck you should be fine, just monitor the current draw off the battery before and after the install to make sure it remains roughly the same.

Can bus adaptors should make the installation easy as. The deck should come with a wiring diagram that should be easy enough to sort out. By the sounds of it your not spending huge dollars so a deck upgrade should give you a good boost for the $$

The jeep makes for a decent sounding vehicle surprisingly! I put a set of 12" subs, a huge mono block amp, two pairs of mb quarts in the front and a set of jaycar response in the rear as well as a 4channel amp in a tj a few years ago,It went off like a frog in a sock!! It needed a lot of sound deadining as well as loctite and rubber.

There is nothing wrong with giving it a go yourself, do some reading and if all else fails take it in and have them look at it.

Cheers

Thanks for the input. Hopefully not too difficult. I have done a couple of cars before but the whole canbus thing seems to make it more difficult. Hopefully not. I am not too fussed about sound quality, I was happy with the stock system, I just want better inputs and 1 din so I can fit my UHF.

Installed radio today. Works well. Only issue is I bought the wrong radio antenna adapter so I don't have the radio working. Oh well, not too expensive.
