No worries mate all good. I'm still pondering about using the 8.8 diff only due to it being that bit narrower which I no it's not much but I think the rear is already too narrow. I've looked at the yukon c- clip eliminator kit for it which I know will push it out about 1" wider than stock and will make it a semi-float but I think the cost will be the governing factor. I think I would probably truss too with the Artec kit to match the front so the cost is creeping up not to mention gears and locker! Unless I could find one with factory 4.10's I need to look into it more yet.....

4.10's are out there but like rocking horse sh*t ......I missed two 8.8's from Gympie last month, the D.Head sold the four axles $100 ......1x 3.73 1x 4.10 both complete brake to brake except he got con'd before I could get onto him

There's nothing wrong with 'C' clips and a 8.8 under an XJ(1T lighter than the donor truck) are bullet proof. A mate is using a stock housing & axles, Detroit centre 4.10:1 in his buggy behind an LS3 and gives it heaps and I mean F*&-%*&K'n Sh*tloads HEAPS and only screwed one axle on 42"s but its only a short time before it'll explode

Yeah it's not the c clips that I'm worried about it's the narrower track width I don't like. The main advantage for me with the eliminator kit is the new bearing blocks that add an inch either side which pushes it out to around 62 inches or so.

Yep so totally agree and that extra 2" or so really helps stability with your amount of lift

I'm researching my next build atm (after the cj's finished)for 2016/17 and was thinking of copying similar to your XJ build but with a WJ on long-arms and fitting an LS1/LS3, 8.8rear D44frt on 33's and go for the 'Bushwhacker WJ' promo truck look.

I'm never in a rush and plan builds years in advance so I can accumulated the bits'n'bobs when they turn up cheap....I've found an immaculate 2003 4.7 WJ Limited with all the fruit + a blown motor for $1200 so got me thinking make an awesome tow rig for the CJ and Son's R34 skid car

Unpacked and started fitting my winch today. Did some measurements and found it would just fit through the top opening if I removed the grill and header panel which is heaps better than removing the bar on my own! Fitted great just had to mod the clutch lever to clear the bottom of the grill. Just need to run the wires and mount the solenoid and also order a slimline plate that will fit better above the fairlead. Also finally got to fit my prolink that I got 12 months ago

Why didn't you try clocking the end of the winch to have the clutch lever come out underneath? Mind you that isn't a bad spot.
