Ok, i think i saw few drops of oil in the water cooler tank.
What is the part number of oil/water cooler? wg crd 2004.

10x mate.
How difficult is the replacement?
Btw - about a year ago i replaced the thermostat, and it took a few days, the screews were melted into engine body....

I had no issues with the bolts corroded in but it's still a prick of a job to get to under the manifold. Putting a standard one back in is probably a bit easier than the bypass plate I made as you have a bit more room around the edges. Tricky thing is making sure the oring isn't disturbed when you slide it back in. Go carefully and it should not be that big a deal. Check out your water hose that goes back to the block in case it's a bit average in case you need to order one of those.

I ordered a second oring in case I damaged the first one fumbling around but it wasn't a drama in the end.

If the inlet manifold is off it is an easy job, if it is on getting access to at least one of the bolts and hose clips looks difficult.

I replace mine a couple of years back (around 30,000km) as a preventative measure when I was doing a heap of work, so far all is good, hopefully it stays that way.

adding my name to the list... mines just done the cooler/exchanger at 220,000kms on the clock after a trip 4wheeling in the Vic high country. Cooler is out, just waiting on parts to arrive now! Great thread...man I love the info that's available on this forum.. thanks fellas.
