Default CRD Diesel to Hemi Conversion.

Hello all,

I am starting a CRD to HEMI 5.7 conversion and where I live (Panama) CRD is not common. The investigation process has been difficult. I have read 2 threads about this conversion, one is RHD and the other has no detailed information.

I wanted to start this thread with my current status so I can have some help, and hopefully this will help others.

My Jeep is a JKUR 2010 LHD. Please be aware that some information WILL vary in different years and even may vary in same year but different versions/countries.

I have the parts manual for CRD and for Petrol so I basically compared part by part looking for different part numbers I have to source from the JKUR 2010 Petrol version, either new or in some cases from a junkyard. Also, I have received some help from Pierre at AllOffroad ZA, AEV Support and Todd from JSS.

I already purchased the crate engine, and the list of parts to source is:

1. Petrol fuel pump module (New). Note: in 2 door, the fuel tank from Diesel is different than Petrol. 4-door has the same tank PN for Diesel/Petrol.
2. Fuel lines from tank to engine are different. Can be purchased OEM or perhaps aftermarket.
3. Petrol complete Wiring harness from junkyard. Only will need Body, Chassis and Dash, but junkyards will sell as a package and just in case I think it´s better to have them all match from the same jeep.
4. Cluster (Speedometer, etc.) PN is different and I think that probably the difference is mine is in KPH and the Petrol version is in MPH. I have been told by Pierre from ZA that this will require programming, or perhaps purchasing from a junkyard will be easier. I think this won’t prevent the Jeep from turning on.
5. Evap canister complete system. As this is not present in Diesel version, everything needs to be purchased (some parts new, some used).
6. Electric Fan: I will try my OEM FAN, and if it doesn´t work I will purchase the 3.6 version.

In my case, the TIPM has the same PN than the petrol. I have been told by Pierre that this will require some programming to behave like Petrol but I called tipmrebuilders.com and discussed with a very nice guy that told me if the PN are the same, they should behave the same, no matter if the VIN number has a character identifying whether it is diesel or petrol (Character 8 ).

The rest of the stuff will be a well-known Hemi conversion, which we have plenty of information around there: Hemi Kit, rear sump pan, engine accessories, etc. At the end I will post a complete BOM for this case.

My specific concern: for a 2010 Jeep, do you think there could be any programming complication that will prevent this project to work?

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
