all done just needs to be welded, one of my mates is a boiler maker so will get him to do it (my welding is ok but I dont want to chance it) Will take the axle and get it cut and splined and all done..

Now who has cut down a 9 inch before. Looks easy will give it a go.

Ok no probs,, cut down the rear 9 inch today, all want well. now front and back are at 60 inches. Just need the welding done.

just remember when you weld , because the housing is cast it has a different expansion rate to the tubes, good idea not to let it get too hot specially on the short end , take a few breaks while welding.

They are normally welded with an alignment bar in place to keep it straight and true. The welding will cause it to distort otherwise.

The 9" does not have a cast centre so fine on that count. There is welding to the cast knuckles though on the front axle.

Ya seen that before, Thats why I am getting a pro welder to the welding, That pipe goes so tight into that housing its not funny and at this stage It is all true and straight.quite happy so far. well see when I get the welding done! ?
