P1601 Error

So the Jeep has had an intermitted injector 3 issue and if I reseat the cable all is good again and she'll run.

This evening the car was running well right up until I pulled into the driveway. It started running rough like it was missing and then stopped and threw a CEL.

I checked the codes expecting to see a P0203 but instead I saw a P1601. The WJ manual doesn't say anything but I found a KJ manual that says this:

When Monitored: With the engine running. During every 180° of engine rotation. Set Condition: The ECM determines that the capacitor voltage is out of range.

I did eventually see a P0203 but the 1601 keeps coming back.

I'm starting to suspect and ECM issue, anyone else have any other ideas other than battery?

Both the Jeep and Merc code reasons seem similar

Can't imagine it would explain the engine cutting out though.

It's an interesting one, hopefully it's just a voltage issue but when you see this as a code reason Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep: Internal TCM Computer Error makes me start to think I've got a ECM fault.

I'll have a look between rain showers and see what I can find.

Ya never know.Comms faults can be a simple as a dodgy connection. Seems you already have some connector issues on your injector, might be another on a module. Maybe unplug and clean everything first.

I cleared the codes and charged the battery as the Jeep is only doing short trips, plus the battery is getting on in years too.

The Jeep started and idled well for several minutes then started missing quite badly after giving it a few revs. The P0203 injector circuit issue I've been seeing was back but charging the battery seemed to fix the P1601 but time will tell.

I've be meaning to squeeze up the connector on injector 3 for a while and have done this to improve the connection. This seems to have resolved the P0203 issue and I've just completed a 20 minute drive without issue.

Hopefully I'm on the right path but I may see if I can obtain some new pins for the Bosch injector connectors.

I did just buy another car so perhaps the Jeep is getting jealous and giving me a hard time.
