Default Cox's scrub S.A.

Found this bit of info posted on another group.

"Subject: Big Brother at Cox Scrub

Just to let everyone know. Someone told me that some goverment
agencies were down at the scrub taking photo's in the creek area so
don;t be surprised if that becomes another area where there is no
public access.
Early in the month I saw an idiot going accross the mud holes just
because. All he will do is carve another rut out and give the govt an
excuse to close it down.
That will be a pity because it is the closest bit of 4wd fun to the
city."

I went there on Sunday.
The track to the washout track (along the fenceline) had some BIG rocks placed strategically to prevent people going beyond a certain point.

Not sure if one had been moved, or they weren't set up properly, but you could still drive to the washout (we didn't)

The river was up real high and the usual mud holes weren't accessible from the South road at all, so I don't know about that area.

Not many places left.

Bondy, welcome to the forum!

I just got home from the Adelaide Jeep club meeting.

A few of them just got back from a great weekend camping on the border track.

One reason I joined the club was to find new areas to drive.

As you know we are limited in Adelaide and have to a lot of driving to find tracks.

The Jeep club also had a great day trip to Cape Jervis a few weeks ago - quite a few off road sections that I hadn't seen before - nothing like the mud and tracks on the East Coast.

Fishery Beach near Cape Jervis is good for mud and short hill climbs.

Everything else would be at least 2 hours away probably.

Not sure what you are after - what Jeep have you got?

Thanks BT,
I've been considering joining the Jeep club since I got my TJ at the end of 2001. Most mod's are cosmetic except for the 31" Cooper S/T's. I've also added Lightforce lights, bikini and tonneau cover as well as chrome bumper and steps.

I've done Cox's a few times (even a nice video down there), Robe to Beachport, Coffic Bay, Oodnadatta track and some others. Another place I have been with some mates is behind the Port Gawler Off-Road park - it's a bit of a fun park with some hills. The mud is extremely sticky, you just need to go near it to get stuck.

I have also been down to Cape Jervis but was a little disappointed - pretty easy going (Blowhole Rd and Boatharbour Rd).
