To be honest.... 5 hours isnt going to resolve the issue..
Id say a good chunk of WH CRDs I get in have some sort of harmonic resonance, rarely do customers notice or mention it. I rarely have the vehicle long enough to resolve the issue.
So far...
*Serpentine belt off - no apparent difference.
*Engine related, you know this because? - In neutral as you rev the noise increases in relation to rpm, correct? (which still includes the torque converter).
*As already established, no difference with serpentine belt off, so its not related to the A/C.
*Do you know if the sound is coming from top end of engine or bottom end? Not guessing but using a mechanics stethoscope, on the intake at each cylinder, along the sump on the bottom end (do be careful of voltage and moving parts, as I cant image 12volts into the ear would be a fun experience).
*What is the noise? fine whine, quiet, loud? can you compare it to any other sound?
Sorry no answers but it may help.
Regards
Daz
