Question Brand new Jeep owner - some questions r.e HDD stereo!

Hi Guys,

Well I'm 3 days into being a Jeep owner (2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo) and loving it. I love it around town but I can't WAIT to take it off road up the coast on the dunes/beach up at Stockton(which was the main intention.)

Anyway most of the functions/features of the vehicle are fairly self explanatory however I do have some 'unique' questions about the stereo unit. This model came with the 'RB2' unit with HDD, CD etc etc.

One really weird thing I can't figure out how to get to be persistent is the radio song 'info' window. This goes where the 'Jeep' background or Picture background area is (i.e the right pane of the main window when the radio is on). I have only been able to get it to show once and I have NO idea how I got it to show. Basically it tells you the song/artist of the current song on the radio which I really like.

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get it back on and/or how to make this the default view. I have read all the manuals, searched online, and lastly looked through this forum but to no avail.

In a last ditch attempt..hoping to lean on you other recent model owners out there!!

Thanks in advance and apologies for the essay here..but great to be part of this group!

Cheers,

Drebin

I hope I have understood you correctly, my apologies if Im all ballsed up, but if you're asking about song/artist to display when the radio is working, I think you will find that it only works if the station tuned into broadcast's the information.

When we lived in Brisbane, my wife's Renault when tuned into River fm they would transmit the song/artist etc. The radio would also display ad's the station transmitted as well.

Hope that helps

Hi ltdrebin,
I found this by accident too. When browsing the HDD, I pressed the 'Info' icon which showed the details of the track playing. When I returned to the radio, details were displayed. I too live in Brisbane and listen to River Fm.

Now if anyone can explain how to transfer MP3s from a USB to the HDD..
I can play them direct from the USB but when attempting to transfer them a message pops up advising that there are no music files..

Thanks Tiddy,

I definitely agree with you that the station has to broadcast this info however the option of seeing 'info' seems to disappear and doesn't come back unless you go to the HDD..click on a song, start to play that and have ITS info displayed and then go back to the Radio and not touch anything! it's very cryptic!! And to your point..this will all be using the same radio station (i.e 2DayFM in Sydney for instance) that definitely broadcasts that data.

Hey WG01..thanks for your reply and glad to hear I'm not the only one out there with this weird issues..hehe. I'll keep playing around with it but it seems like such a weird omission!! Perhaps a future Firmware update or something will fix it?

r.e MP3's->HDD..your situation is interesting as I had something vaguely similar but it would see the songs fine..it just wouldn't transfer them (I'd get a general 'could not transfer' error). The fix was to change USB sticks until I finally found one that the HDD 'liked'..seriously..I had about 4 and it took as many for it to work! I think one of the big issues is that we use Macs in our family and the HDD needs the USB sticks to be formated in FAT..which a Mac can do..but not reliably (I've found in other instances too.) Not sure if your situation is similar but if so..first step I'd recommend is trying a few USB sticks..Good luck!

Thanks. Tried a different usb stick (only 2g) and worked. I guess I'll persevere with that for a couple of times until the hdd is full.
