Did some more work this afternoon, bent up the returns and tacked them on. Not as easy as it sounds as the rear tapers in so getting the shape on the ends of the bar was a bit of a pain. Also bending up the returns was tricky making sure they were both spot on. Also added the nuts to the strip running into the frame and checked they lined up with the towbar and bashplate for the tank.

Anyway some pics. This is the first return I made, they need trimming to match the body lines as they taper up as it goes towards the bar. I used some nice little powerfull magents to stick it to the body and get the spacing right.

It looks tapered here but it isn't yet, the folds taper upwards though.

Tacked on, you can see a lot needs trimming, it will be cut back on top level with the taillights and boxed under them.

Weight wise it's less than I thought, I'll weigh it when I'm done

Cheers
Steve

Its 4mm thick, I just marked it on the rear and scored it with a 3mm cutting disk on the grinder, once you get a good depth cut in it you can just clamp it and bend it by hand and a lot of grunting

Cheers

Yep, I'll probably just stitch it every inch or so.

Cheers

Yes you can do that and it will make striking the arc much easier and give you a more stable arc too. At trade school, when I was doing my welding tickets, we kept all the rods permanently in a steel box that had a 75 or a 100w globe on at all times. Dont need much heat to keep the moisture out. You could just use a ammo box with a lead light in it.
As for the LED's, have you checked out this site? http://www.ledautolamps.com/ It is a Aussie site and good stuff too. They are now selling through places like Bursons I have noticed.
