Default ABS dash light

Just thought I'd shoot this past you guys after performing a forum search.

Just recently the ABS dash warning light illuminates, not directly after ignition, but moments after I start moving the vehicle (checked whether the pump was working by standing on anchors yesterday during the rain - and not much happened)

Checked all lines, fuses etc. Cant see anything amiss on initial inspection. Is the system known too fail, ie., is it a common complaint to say have the pump replaced?

I wouldnt have thought so, because the pump itself isnt used all the time

Tips, suggestions, maybe who would be best in WA to have it looked at (just been to 4WDUSA - they werent bad, just wouldnt mind getting a couple of opinions).

I don't anything about your ABS problem, but I do know that 4wd USA are useless. Bigtime rip-offs. Definately get yourself a few other opinions.

Just my 2c

abs sensor near one of the wheels, just take the abs fuse and relay out and your brakes will work a treat

Your frankness is refreshing.

Being a Jeep noob, I was keeping my negative opinion to myself after having some work done by them recently.

Oh well back on topic - I might have a clean around ABS wheel sensors this weekend - see if that helps

The abs modules in the zj are a common problem, hope it's not that. Mine has been a problem for over 12 mths now. I'm think it's about a grand to fix, but thats why they call them a grand cherokee.

You may just have a dirty wheel sensor, this is a common problem in KJs. Suggest you try cleaning the ABS sensors before you do something expensive.

I had this with my ZJ a couple of times , first few times was just grease from split CV boot on sensor.
But then had a more persistant fault, turned out to be hairline cracks around solder joint for pump inside controller (which is mounted under ABS pump assy.).I removed controller (uses tamperproof screws) ,opened plastic box & re-soldered joints then put it back together.
