Default How To Test Drive a Wrangler

Hey there.

Note:
Quote:
I originally posted this in the JK Drivers thread but then thought it would probably be better suited here as it's not specifically related to JK's as such.
I live in Adelaide and am considering buying a 4-Door Wrangler from interstate but have not been able to actually test drive one. I'm pretty confident that what I want is a 4-Door Wrangler but every where I've read says go and take one for a drive before you open you wallet, but I can't find a way to actually do this. I've expressed interest both at "Adelaide City Chrysler Jeep Dodge" and "Adrian Brien Automotive", and even booked and went in to Adrian Brien with the expectation of taking a Wrangler for a test drive only to discover they were very reluctant for me to do so. Turns out they only have bran new 4-Doors there and will only let me 'test' one if it's essentially on the understanding of being a pre-purchase drive.

I understand there position, it's a new car and they don't want people putting miles on it unless there pretty confident there going to buy it, so I'm wanting to know if there is a commitment free way to test drive a Wrangler, even if I have to pay a 'hiring fee' to do so.

Thanks.

yes its called bs , walk in off the street start asking questions about a new one ,price they can do, delivery blah blah. then tell them you would like a test drive ,if they say you have to sign up for one first tell them only if they kiss you where the sun does not shine and you will go to a dealer who WANTS to sell a new jk TODAY .(this might not be true ) but hey i wouldnt lose sleep over it either.

Yep agreed. If they dont want to let you test drive one, they are not interested in your business.

We walked into a dealership with no intentions of buying a jeep, it was just a spur of the moment thing on a wet weekend. Had a look at a few wranglers and loved the look of the dark charcoal one and the sales person asked us if we would like to take it for a drive. It had about 70km on the clock and he had to get about 5 other vehicles moved, then off we went.

We came back after bout 1/2 hour and were asked if that was long enough. We put a deposit down on the spot and picked it up a few days later.

There are dealers out there that want your business, just gotta find 'em!

(PS. kudos to Garry Crick Noosa - without them I would not be a Jeep owner )

Thanks for that.
But I'm all sorted now

I ended up getting a short ride in a car they had there then Alan ("Jeep To Be" on this forum) graciously gave us a detailed rundown of his own pride and joy on Sunday. It was most decent of Alan to do that for us and we were most grateful.

Thank you.
