Interesting on your theory. I have a dual battery setup using a VSR. If I flick the override switch to permanently bridge the two batteries together, would that act the same as you have described?

It's certainly adding to the overall capacity and stiffening the voltage... though the resistance in the cabling might dampen the effect.

I'm thinking about a short connection right onto the alternator B+ terminal.

Ok I’ve got the car back and had a look and there is no way of telling the make or model of the new alternator. Still waiting to hear back from the dealer but the part number on the invoice (04801865AE) turns up responses for reconditioned ‘generators’ which is obviously the American term.

So still none the wiser. If anyone can tell me where on an alternator the brand is normally shown I’m happy to have another look

I am lead to believe "04801865AE" is the "fixed" part number for the genuine on the invoice, so the "recall" is done for your car. But that is just the invoice. They had told you otherwise it is an aftermarket they fitted.

Exactly, they confirmed it is aftermarket. Will wait and see

Got fobbed off to customer care when I emailed Robert Lawson. Obviously questions to hard or he's sick of deal with it now.

Sounds like he is sick of dealing with it - I think you guys have worn it thin with the questions that Jeep Customer care should be dealing with.
