Default Anyone driven Coral Bay to Exmouth?

Hi All,

I am looking at taking my 97 Grand Cherokee up to Coral Bay at the end of the year. I have heard that there is a track that runs along the coast from Coral Bay to Exmouth with a river crossing about 1/2 way. Has anyone been on this track and if so, what can I expect. (I have only had very limited beach driving experience).

Track (or tracks - there's about four tracks running parallel about 20 metres apart) will take you up to yardie creek without even seeing the beach. Check with the ranger station whether the creek is passable.(Last time after rain we found it was chest deep). It will probably take a good day if you want to stop for lunch and a swim.

After that you're on tarmac to Exmouth.

That sounds great.. what sort of condition can I expect the tracks to be in? Are they fairly firm eg a mix of limestone/sand or do they tend to be all sand? Am I likely to need to use low range for the tracks?

The tracks are compressed sand, not too soft and fine for high range. Would be best to air down to 15-18psi depending on your tyres. If you want to go on the beach low range is better. and you'll need a compressor to air up again for the road to exmouth.

have fun

As mentioned check with the ranger if the creek is passable, its a long drive to find you have to turn back.
