Default Spare parts sunset strategy

Hi all.
I can feel the XJ parts after-market starting to sunset a bit. Unsurprising given age / akwardness (mine's a 2001 VM). While some parts are more generic, some can be rebuilt (e.g. starter motors), some improvised (gearbox mounts), some are very hard to find / unique (PCMs).

What parts do people things it make sense to start buying and storing, to make sure I can keep my jeep going for another x-many years? Are PCM and sensors the place to start perhaps?

I'm quite certain my wife is looking forward to having more jeep parts filling up the shed...

I bought a whole petrol one for $450, only 59 VIN off mine, needed a master cyl and fuel pump.

I presume that is out of the question, although, if you have time, you can strip one pretty quick and have the carcass taken away

As the VM was not sold in USA, I dont think Rock Auto is any use for certain items, but very useful for any non VM specific parts.

I dont know much about them but it seems like cylinder head problems are a big & deal breaking issue

There are some owners on here that know all about them

For the VM
Water pumps were being sold cheap a couple of years ago.
Rings were being sold out.
Engine bearing shells in the last year were cheap.
Power steering pumps are unusual, can be rebuilt.
A fuel pump seal kit is good to have.
spare turbo is a good idea.
Clutch hydraulics are a pain. You can reseal but not perfect.
You have a lot more parts in your part of the world with VM being used in many applications.
I have purchased most spares out of the EU. The manual makes the electronics much simpler.
a lot of plastic components are well past their use by date.
Some sensors can be rebuilt, like the temp sensors & the reverse light switch.
1# injector spare is a good idea.
