Default Rear springs

Hey guys, I am recently back in the jeep game, this time my 3rd XJ, and am very happy with it apart from the obvious - rear springs.

The car came with a 2 inch Ironman kit in it which is a really stiff ride. The rear springs are also different each side by about 40mm, down on drivers side.

now I can either swap the springs over and go from there attacking the ride quality or just put in some OME 2 inch rear springs. Not sure if I want the matching shocks or if I will just get a full set from somewhere yet.

What I'm after is anyone that has got OME springs in the rear, how is the ride and any sagging?

Cheers

Hey mate,

I'm running the OME leaves (think 2x CS035RA) with an extra leaf added to each (D22XL). Had them for... 6 years or so I guess?

Initially quite firm without weight in the back, but wouldn't go any softer personally if you ever plan to 4wd with some crap in the back - you lose a bit of height once you load it up!

I've since added longer shackles and shackle relocation brackets. The relocation brackets are great as the leaf packs are quite short, this got my shackle angle back from vertical to 45°.

The ride is now the best its ever been, very happy.

I've been running OME's for several years, they ride well, flex well and carry load well, significantly better then the OEM's in both regards to flex and load carrying, ride is firmer then OEM but the OEM's are pretty soft and wallowy....
As for the shocks, I wouldn't and don't run the OME's, the on-road handling with the OME's is great but on bump roads or corrugated roads I found the OME's were abysmal, I now run the OEM JK shocks....

Thanks guys, I am after about 3 inch in total so I may just get some OME springs and see where I'm at after they go in. Yeah JJ I was thinking of getting some Bilsteins from IRO and seeing what all the fuss is about.

Any other brand of 2 inch rear springs readily available?

Check out my Ride(s)

I have the OME's springs and shocks and i am very happy with the ride, flex and load carrying etc.

I haven't done much corrugated driving so haven't noticed any issues with the shocks. The only thing I'm thinking of is trying to get an extra 1" of lift as mine is the sport and the 2" OME is only 1" of effective lift over sport. But I'm happy so no hurry so far...

If you mean a direct bolt in then no, you need to "mod" the shocks to fit, also bumpstop extensions are required but these should be fitted anyway especially in the front to prevent the upper control arms hitting the trans lines and/or sump....

I use the stock black shocks on mine...
