Default Purchase 2021 Trailhawk or wait for GC-L

So I currently have a 3.0L CRD 2012 limited GC it is coming up on 200k. It has never given me any problems until about 3 months ago the DPF fucked up, which was my fault, a warning light showing a faulty sensor on the DPF was showing up on the dash and i just kept deleting it. What i have since found out is that once you have a faulty sensor on the DPF it will not allow it to regenerate, even when you try to force a regen through the AlphaOBD interface. Long story short the DPF got so fucked up I had to replace it.
Anyhow prior to this I was toying with the idea of purchasing a new vechicle, it was a toss up between a new VX Prado or a new Trailhawk, Trailhawk came out on top, partially because there is 5-6month wait for a Prado VX, and alot of because of how well my last GC has served me, My 2012 Limited is not far off the spec to a new Prado VX, I also have no need for a 7 seater, I personally think the GC just looks so much better than a Prado, 140KW Vs 184KW and finally Towing 3000KG's Vs 3500KG's
Actually one of the things the Prado has is an option to force the engine to do a regen, would be good if the GC had something similar without having to do it through the OBD port.

So what do people think?
Is it madness to buy a new GC Diesel Trailhawk now or should I wait for the new GC-L next year. Which has 2 extra seats that I don't need and I am not sure whether or not I like the new look (but that will probably grow on me) Iam thinking more along the lines of resale or trade in value in 5-6years time

Personally, I'm waiting for the shorter wheelbase 2 row WL. Would have to be lighter and hence perform better/be more economical plus the shorter wheelbase should give a better breakover angle which is the only area the 3 row WL falls short of the WK2.

Down sides
- price is an unknown but will undoubtedly be higher than the WK2
- 2 row unlikley to get here before mid 2022 at the earliest I think
- Neither the V6 or V8 petrol interest me and with no diesel option it just leaves the 4xe PHEV but no idea yet how that will perform and it hasn't been confirmed for Oz. From what I can tell of the Wrangler 4xe, the only way to charge the battery is to plug it in. Seems to me that this would mean on a long trip you'll end up driving a 2 litre turbo petrol. (On Volvo PHEVs for example you can top the batteries while cruising so they are ready for the next hill/next town etc)

And I'd never stoop to buying a Prado...

7 seater and rip out the extras like you do in other vehicles, V8 only, PHEV might be okay for city but not for my style I would actually hunt down a WK2 myself, even a small Km WK2 some else has added the bling and got any bugs sorted.......
Never liked buying the first of the run jobs, they have too many bugs and getting warranty fixes is time consuming, fraught with danger and generally a big pain..... last of the model run are vehicles that run the best and last for ages..

Your choice champ, BUT regardless of what stable you go with, any DPF equipped Diesel is going to give you problems and eventually come back and bite you in the butt if you keep ignoring and turning off any warning light, you stated its been faultless, hang on to it, better the devil you know

If you are doing any towing I would go for the Trailhawk now, I reckon the resale on the diesel in 5 years will be better than the v6 WL. Just my opinion of course.

I'm of the same mind. I reckon it's a strong possibility that depreciation on nice condition WK2 diesels will slow right down as they become more sought after for the purpose they serve.
