Default WK2 Eco Diesel Recall in USA 2014-16

Just come across this little Gem............... for 2014 - 2016 Diesels.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2015/J...UV/4WD#recalls

August 13, 2020 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V475000

Crank Position Sensor Tone Wheel may Delaminate
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000

Manufacturer Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

Components ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Potential Number of Units Affected 58,016

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Ram 1500 and 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

Remedy

FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion by reading the camshaft position signal in the event that the crankshaft position signal is lost, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 2, 2020. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-2002. FCA US's number for this recall is W58.

and the scary thing is when I pop my ViN number I get this:

associated with this VIN
Aug 13,2020
Manufacturer Recall NumberW58
NHTSA Recall Number20V-475

Recall Status Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available

Read this last night, and my wishful thinking was that maybe it’s just the US version. I just checked my VIN and get same result as yours too (1 unrepaired recall)!!

Of course nothing about it here, wait for a letter I suppose, then they will do a recode and more than likely cause more problems, I don't like software fixes at all, just get the parts and fix the dodgy bit, the software will drag it out and more likely if it don't break down they wont repair.

Just add it to the list.................... Wide spread panic will now happen.............engine has been around since 2012, just funny all these things seem to appear first in RAMs..............

My VIN shows up too.

I don't get it though - if I'm reading this correctly, all they're planning to do is add the external FP relay and harness to bypass the TIPM. Even more oddly, it says that if the external relay/harness was done at the previous recall, this new recall will just replace it with a new external relay and wiring harness...so more of the same, not a real fix? Certainly no new TIPM in the pipeline it seems.

When I input my VIN on that site in the link, I get this in the pic.

In the description it does say that this VIN search does not apply to International sales. Am I looking at the right place?

Cheers
