Default Help needed pulling it apart!

Hi Guys,

Purchased one of those Uconnect modules from Jeep last week. Looks like its a pretty decent unit, but I have to wire it up around the centre cluster bezel to connect it to the radio and have no idea how to pull it all apart.

I'm sure its pretty trivial, but if anyone could give me some idea of how I can go about pulling it apart without breaking any clips, I would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a small photo of the centre bit that I need to pull apart.

Also, as a secondary matter, the instructions say to wire the microphone up to the centre head lamp area, which if you ask me, involves pulling the A-pillar panel off, removing the overhead console and somehow getting the wires under (over) the interior roof. How easy is this to do? Sounds bloody difficult! I'm tempted just to shove the microphone somewhere on the centre panel instead....

I appreciate your insight. I hate pulling apart bits cause knowing my luck I'll snap a clip or two.

Cheers guys.

If you want to pull out the radio surround, theres one small screw in that little area at the bottom (where you lockers switches are) undo that and the whole surround just pulls out neatly, unclip the wires to air con/fans and lighter and it comes completely out. from there you can access the radio mountings.

After you take that screw out there are four metal clips that hold the trim surround in place. lift it from the bottom and you'll be ok. Be carefull it is just plastic. I've had mine out several time and it snaps back in with no damage. Just don't use any 'tools' on the plastic.

I found that when replacing my CD player, using one of my better half's thin plastic spatulas used for cake mixing does the trick to get behind the bezel and safely lever it out.
As a matter of fact I have taken possession of said spatula (mixing stick) for all internal panel removals, including door trims, of course replacing that which I have borrowed...

Thanks all. You were absolutely correct. Very easy to dismantle and put back again. I ended up just putting the microphone on the dash to keep it easy. Seems to be picking up my voice no trouble at all.

Thanks again all.
