Yeah, ya never know. Little partial to those Wranglers. Wouldnt mind doing up a 40 series Toyo, but recon a second hand Wrangler would probably work out better value in the end.

I'll be putting a hydraulic winch on it. If it stuffs up though I'll be blaming it on the jeep power-steering pump though!!

Electric, without question.

Reason 1: Hydraulic has to have the motor running, in order to operate.

Reason 2: Electric doesn't have to be. I have used mine solely on the batteries for a while, without the motor running.

Reason 3: Some organized competitions (in the US anyway) have outlawed the use of hydraulic winches in their events.

Reaon 4: With electric, all you have to do is mount it up, and run the wires to your battery. With the hydraulic, you have to mount it up, and pipe all the hydraulics in order to get it to run.

Reason 5: My electric HS9500i Warn will have 3 people pulled out from a 50 yard pull, before a hydraulic winch could get one out, at the same distance.

By the way, unlike what some people may state, I have never had my Warn to overheat. Even when I was pulling out a rather large log truck with it.
