I took my Jeep to the dealer when i got first recall letter, and they didn't do anything to it.
Got a second letter from them last september and didn't bother to follow up, wonder if i should now...

Default Crappy bit of RHS

I got the crappy RHS fitted as I wanted to keep the family safe just in case.

I asked the stealer if they could do a deal on a towbar since they'd be essentially doing the same fitting anyway. Their response: approx $1200 supplied and fitted for a genuine one.

I have had quotes from $690 fitted for a Hayman Reese. Why would I get the factory one at full retail!? Jeep dealer couldn't understand why I started to get cranky with him on the phone....

As I have said many times, Chrysler run the parts business as a profit centre, everything they touch makes margin, there is no cross-subsidy with car sales. Chrysler sells the part to the dealer who has to make margin as well. Buying any part from a dealer is going to be expensive. Back when the US auto industry was dying and had to be bailed out by the US government, Chrysler Australia stayed profitable despite poor sales on the back of their profitable parts business. Don't buy parts from them unless your desperate. You can source parts from US, or VM online businesses which will be way cheaper even with the poor exchange rate and shipping.
