Got my recall letter today, don't see any point in wasting hours of my time when I bought it new with the OEM towbar - you'd think they would know that from the records but I assume they get the names from the RTA agencies databases. I've got the tank bash plate as well, and its a diesel so I can't be too worried. I was in a bad accident as a teen when I got t-boned by a speeder at an intersection, it ripped the petrol tank right out of my mom's Chevy Nova and threw it down the road about fifty meters. Lucky I as wearing a seatblt - not a common thing in those days. I reckon that was my one bad one, and I have some faith in the KJ that it will protect me (based on stories I have seen over the last seven years) - certainly much more solid than the old Nova.

Default Dont take it in if you use your vehicle to tow

Just had my wife's car in due to the recall.

Its a 2006. Hayman Reece tow-bar and we use it for towing.
So they have removed the tow-bar and fitted a reinforcing bar in front of the fuel tank. And given the vehicle back to us minus our tow-bar and they are saying 3 months minimum till tow-bars or the modified brackets for aftermarket bars are available. So if like us you are planning to tow (Like we need to do next weekend) you are screwed.

Can they do this. we weren't informed when we took it in that our tow vehicle would be rendered useless for 3 months or more.

That's outrageous, id demand it back for a start before they dispose of it then I'd be onto both the service manager and FC.
