Yep, packing light is the go!. About pooping... if u have a fire, burn it... it burns really well and leaves no trace. I am constantly stunned to find the amount of dried turd and dunny paper all over this country (Australia) that have been left in abundance by those who don't care or understand.

When I travelled to Rudall River NP, which is about as remote as it gets, I was surprised by 2 things... the number of people (grey nomads) already there (Oh God, everyone now has a 4WD) and the amount of turd and turd paper EVERYWHERE. What's more, each campsite had its own roaring fire and they were still turding behind a bush and leaving it there!! Also, I was amazed at the number of used syringes lying about, and I am sure that they were not just used by diabetics.

About fires... I agree, they leave a lot of smoky stink. What's more, people denude camping areas of firewood, thereby ruining habitat for small animals etc as well as helping to de-stabilise things like dunes etc. If u want a fire, take your own firewood, and have them small.

About the RTT and the 3am calls... I use a bucket that I leave in the corner of the RTT out of the way of feet and empty it in the morning.

I used a Gatorade bottle... they have a wide neck. Make sure you don't lose track of it among your other drinks!
