JungleJuice, I can't imagine 17 years, mine was just a shade over 10.
Not bad for a breed of dog that's only supposed to live for 10-12yrs, even the vets were surprised.
The sad part is making the decision, as you say they are a big part of your life but in the end it's gotta be what's best for them....
