Default Just bought a ZJ

Hows it going Lads,

After 6 months of talking about trading my Nissan Patrol for a cherokee, Ive come back from the dealer last night with a April 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Wife loved it so that was it. Its got 100,000km one owner fully spotless for 22K. Not too bad.

Anyway time to modify. Ive allready got duel battery, compressor, shower system, anyone know where to squezze them? I want to get a 3-4" lift, 31s, ARBs front & rear, maybe even change the diff ratios. Anyone got any experiance with any of this.

Cheers,

Darren.

nice work lads...

let see..
3-4" lift.. ok plenty of kits out there for ZJ in teh US.. think the OME lift will not give you more than 2.5" lift...
rubicon makes a good lift for them.
at that height me think you need to look at F&R panhard rods, LCA's, as well as springs/shocks/swaybarlinks etc.
also i think you might need SYE, not sure how easy to find sye for a 249,

not too sure if they come with CV drive shaft, yuo might want to change that as well, i blew mine once.. pita when in teh middle of no where..

think ZJ comes with 3.73 diff R&P, it migth be 3.55.. anyhow.. 31's should be ok me thinks... i had 245/75/16 on my zj once upon a time, not proble except for rubbing...

limited came standard wtih 16" rims and laredo comes in 15 me think..

im pretty sure.. than again, what do i know. >

btw, parking lot ding are cool..

Welcome to the land of the ZJ. I have 31's fitted to my Laredo and you don't need a huge lift
I coiled spaced mine by 50mm, washered the steering stops, trimmed a smidge off the front guard plastic inside the wheel well and that's about it! Oh - and upped the bump stopps by 50mm as well.

However I will not go disco'd as that could be a disaster on the interior of the wheel wells.

I have not changed ratios as I have two sets of wheels/tyres. The Laredo 15" get the road tyres and I have a set of Wrangler steel rims for the 31's. There is a difference in power on the 31's on-road but it's hardly a problem off-road.

Have had a few miles of off-road fun with this set-up. However it will never be as capable as Lexx's TJ!
(and I have way too much to do on the full size!)

Just add "enjoy"! Hope you guys post some pictures soonish..
