Default Turbo o'ring

Fitting up the new air-con compressor today
Noticed an oil leak from the turbo compressor outlet
Removed the steel inlet pipe and ...

Must've pinched it at some point.
Work donated a couple of viton replacements (good up to 200 C)
Not quite Mercedes size but still more than enough to allow pipe to snap into place
If anyone needs a replacement let me know

Default WH Grand Cherokee Stereo Faceplate

Got to open my Christmas present today
Ordered from eBay shop

They do three kits; base, steering wheel controls, & amplifier
So their harnesses are matched to your car
They do two colours.
My interior is dark khaki (apparently)
So I ordered brown
The other is grey

Colour spot on to the naked eye
and texture is extremely close too
Opening is 174mm by 98mm

Looks awesome! Keep us posted on the install. What head unit are you installing?

With the kit, I noticed it says 05-07 and only mentions CAN Bus Factory Radios REF, REC, RAQ and RAK. Any idea if it would work with a 2010 WH GC with the REP stereo?

Default 4671168E Relay

Driving around town last night
Young mate pulled up beside me at the lights
And informed me I had no taillights
Pulled into the next shopping carpark and sure enough,
no park lights at all
Anyway, Thanks young fella

After some stuffing around I figured out it was a relay
In the front fuse box (or power distribution centre - front)

These are a micro form factor 12V relay,
with normally open contact and single throw.
If you can't source one at Jeep, don't worry
Head on over to Jaycar
The OEM is on the left below, generic replacement is on the right

Since the transmission & transfer case rebuild all I've done is drive it.
Unfortunately I've got an increasingly noticeably vibration at 100km/h.

As this week there was so much rain we were stuck for four days with absolutely nothing to do.
In the interests of staying sane I got the Jeep up on the hoist ... again
First I noticed the NV245 front output shaft oil seal is leaking again.
I was a little suss of the bearings on the front output shaft at assembly.
So I've replaced both bearings.
The front one had a noticeable knock in it when twisted with both hands.
Maybe, just maybe, as the original owner never replaced that dreaded prop shaft CV,
the bearings were flogged out from excessive vibration.
On the trip home I've noticed two things.
Way less vibration and almost an elimination of the on-float backlash.
This also shows up as that dreaded clunk on downshift & forward/reverse selection.

When on the hoist I also noticed an eighth turn of the rear diff and slight play in the pinion.
Probably the new all steel tailshaft having an effect as it's a lot heavier than the OEM alloy.

And finally we raided the engineer's office and stuffed around with his 3D printer.
Of all the things we printed, the washer nozzle was the only thing Jeep related.
As you can see, our first effort had really poor surface finish
Oh well, kept us amused for a whole shift.

Only two more oil leaks to go
Getting there

As is so often the case up here,
when surrounded by lifted Cruisers, Prados & Hiluxes.
It's easy to forget what 3 inches of lift looks like.
So I lined this pic up at Bunnings this morning
