Default Jambo 2014 - Tassie

G'day AJOR'ians, please participate in this poll for some market research. There has been a suggestion of having Jambo 2014 held in Tassie and I think it is really important that everyone answer the poll to give feedback as to whether it would be worthwhile.

Voted yes on the assumption we know early enough to budget for the boat ride (2xcars and a camper). I reckon Tassie would make for a great location for Jambo.

As everyone else seems to be saying, as long as it is affordable, I think Tassie would be a great experience and an unreal adventure for everybody! and that is why we all bought Jeeps in the first place :)

Default Jambo 2014 - Tassie

As anyone who has been involved in organizing a jamboree would know it is too late now to start the process. Previous Jambos have taken at least 2 years of detailed planning and organizing by a large group of volunteers to be successful.
First question
Who is going to get a team together that has the time and knowledge to make it happen?
Second question
Who is going to fund the event?
Third question
Who is going to plan, recce and run all the trips needed?
Do I need to ask any more questions at this point.

That's a bit negative. How about as well as putting up questions, put up some suggestions.
I've been involved in organising 2 Jamborees (2002 & 2012), and attended a few. It does NOT take 2 years to organise.
Example the Morriset Jambo was run with only about 6months lead-time. Also in most cases the actual planning and work doesn't ramp up until theres 12-6 months left.
Also often the Jambo committees start from stratch, all they need to do and I have no doubt if asked previous organisers would help provide contacts, plan templates, tips, even resourses.
1. IF any of the Tassie guys (or other smaller clubs) are interested in running a Jambo, then I know I would not be alone in offering any possible assistance to them.
2. Funding, is by the attendees (presold tickets etc) and cash sponsorship. No doubt there are otherways to raise the money, but it's just a matter of how much needs to be spend as to how much needs to be raised. No so much money, fine just have less fanfare.
3. I am sure some locals know various tracks. If needed I am sure some would be happy to arrive early to help.

Exactly Wooders.

Rubiconicon -- 1 Post??????????? sounds very much like either you have no idea & are new to Jeep or & MOST likely someone who has started a new profile to hide who you really are. I have a few names for it, but don't want to band from here yet.

And YES I'll put my hand up & back my comments. Hell, the only time I left the site last Jambo was to do the rubbish runs.
