Default CJ8: Building a Scrambler...

So I've just aquired a CJ8, but it has the lovely tin roof. Although its a great looking Jeep, I'm really after the look of a scrambler, but after seaching and searching it's beginning to look near impossible to find a hard half top here in Aus, and then if I ever do find one what else is needed for the scrambler look? maybe some sort of cab block out bit under the half top? Full doors to suit the new top also?

The doors are different Tim. The fibre glass ute type top uses rounded window frames like the CJ7.
I only ever saw one of these scrambler tops for sale in Aus and it was not cheap.
You can use a CJ7 top and cut the back off. Use it with an open back or get a canvas made to fit. I have seen this done and it looks good.

Hi Timmy your not wrong in saying that half tops for scramblers are hard too find.....After some time i ended up with two sold one last year and keeping the other for my Scrambler.....Coulpe of other options if you want too use your existing doors off Overlander..you can cut down you steel cabin basically cutting out large side window and leave smaller window as an extra cab look... and fabricate new back panel with window...you will need to move rollbar back...or find yourself a cj10 cabin it uses the same doors....just like Brians old Yellow Big Bird that he used to own, you might have seen in Jeep Action Mag.....Good luck in your search.

This one doesn't seem to have any smaller windows on the side, or are you saying to make my own smaller windows?

This is what I have to play with...
