Default Which Wheel Cylinder Bore Size Do I Have?

Gday XJ-ites...Im about to change my wheel cylinders and need to know the bore size. I understand there are two sizes available. Is it possible to work out which I need without taking a wheel cylinder off & measuring it. Thanks in advance for any help.

insight may be had from the people, factory service or parts manuals, supplier, ebay ads etc, but info of your year model, engine type etc would b needed. handy to add to yr "signature"

I have found the size to be some what random. My thoughts are to go for the 3/4 rather than the 7/8 because it will result in better distribution of braking front to back. My 2001 has 3/4, dont know what the 98 has, never looked. Most cylinders for sale on places like ebay are 7/8 . BTW my jeeps dont have abs.

as ur in Sydney, you could try ring yr local brake expert, he should know, and they are cheap off-the-shelf...or drive down in the mrs car once apart, or slide the boot off and measure, isnt too hard (i dont think).

on my '96 x2, one with ABS one without, the parts swapped over without any issues, didnt remove the cylinders, the whole axle housings got swapped across, minus shoes & drums
