If you are worried about legal reasons, then you wont want 9 in rims

This calculator is brilliant for what you want to know, stick the stock rim configuration on the left then the new options on the right (stock rim is 17 x 7.5 with +45mm offset)

There are also many apps available for this on Android and iPhone. I'm using tire converter on Android.

Great info guys! I looking at new wheels and need advice on wheel width? In particular 8" or 9". Which to go with? I'm running 265/70R17 at the moment and plan to upsize to 33x12.5x17. What are the pros and cons of 8" and 9" wheels?
