Default 3.0 CRD Auto Trans Service. Can I do it at home?

Gents, and ladies,

The WH is up for a trans service, so I am contemplating saving some coin and doing this at home. Has anyone got any suggestions or whether not I should just leave this to a "shop"?

Cheers,

Robert

The hardest part is getting the fluid level right afterwards.

All you need is this MANN FILTER H 182 KIT and the right fluid and a way to measure the level and you are good to go.

Hint! I found the best way to get the level right is to measure the amount of fluid that you drain (at room temp) and only put that amount back in.

I had actually considered that exact process Clarky!

Tell me, what sort of service intervals are they? I had mine serviced at 130k when I bought it, it has about 165k now.

I got a cheap dipstick off eBay
Dip if before you begin so you've got a level to work too
I had more trouble loosening the drain plug on the OEM pan,
than I did removing the pan & filter

Do the drain and fill twice .I drive around the block before second drain and fill.If you do only one drain and fill lots of old ATF retained in TC.As Clarky said measure what comes out put same amount back in.Never had a problem.
