You dont need lockers in the sand....just low tyre pressure and clearance....all you will do with lockers in sand is dig holes...

X2 I think you would be better off spending money on a lift, some better tyres, recovery equipment , compressor or barwork before locker's, the jk is very good off the floor as long as you turn off the traction control and lower pressures you shouldn't need locker's for sand work.

If your doing locker are you doing ratio's as well, if you are ever going to go to larger tyres I would be doing ratio's to save some $$$ on labour, but as I said already, it's your first 4wd and even in stock form is a lot more capable than you are, I think you could spend $$$ on a lot of thing's before locker's, items like lift's, barwork and better tyres you benefit from every time you drive, what about a UHF.

did the dealer talk you into getting lockers?

i would agree with greenjk, the money would be better spent elsewhere and hes right about the ratios, if you decide later to go to 35s or something and need to change the gear ratios you will have to do the lockers all over again

Originally I wanted a rubicon but it's not available so sports with lockers are the closest I can get to it. Fraser is just 1 of many places I want to go. Having all other parts without lockers, wouldn't that just make it pointless as the wheels will have no traction?

Sound like you've already made up your mind mate, and before you've even used it off road, no need to listen to people that have owned one for 6 years and done almost 150,000k then.

This is why I joined a forum. It's my first 4x4 so any info and advise would be greatly appreciated. I've only been told not to put lockers but no explanation to why not. Yes I want new bar, bigger wheels, lift, but I thought I'll go lockers first and others later.
