Question Jeep cover

Gday all and happy new year.

I’ll be going away for 2 months in a couple of weeks and have to leave my black Summit out in the Townsville sun for the duration. Black and harsh sunlight, IMHO, isn’t ideal.

Anyone recommend a quality car cover for the jeep that will cover the chief roof rack fitted? I know I’ll have to remove the 270Degree awning but really don’t want to remove the roof rack. Any help will be invaluable.

Cheers.

John.

Not really needed I reckon, John ... mines Graphite so pretty dark and the sun hasn't bothered it during trips of a couple of months in Western QLD but a cover will increase the internal temps to something scary, say 60c plus and that could be very damaging to anything in the cab ............. Im not a fan of them at all unless in a shed to protect from bird shit and dust crap.

Car covers can trap humidity between the cover and paint work and this 'sweating' can cause paint pop blisters. Most classic car owners are wary of them and avoid using them for anymore than a few hours. The ones in demand by classic car enthusiasts are usually the special padded covers for hail protection and they are carried in case a sudden storm happens when out and about, but they are not normally left on after the risk passes.

I only cover mine when I leave it parked outside for a couple of days due mainly to bird crap and the trees shedding other stuff all over it.
I do worry about the sun and rain effects, but when you think about it on a trip away towing the van it is left outside in the elements, in the case of our lap this year, for 6 months...rain hail or shine.

I use a windscreen shade when left in the sun at a Park, otherwise it is uncovered. If I was leaving the Jeep anywhere for an extended period I'd use the sun screen over the windscreen, and maybe a couple of sheets or towels over the seats to protect them from UV. Though most of us have window tint that cuts back UV.
The car will breathe anyway through the internal venting...

Also I have watched folk putting their covers on and off, you can get wet and covered in dirt quite often and if they start flapping which can end up in damaged paint work .......

Simple fact is,if you are in a bat prone area put a cover on it.Bat poo will eat into paintwork in seven days in high humidity and full sun.In fact tests our company did it would even etch glass!
