Default Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30, where to buy from.

Hi all,

I have been driving the WH commander for about 2 months, great looking 4WD with a great engine and transmission.

I would like to change the oil every 5k and after doing some research on the forums have found out that the right oil is Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30.

Can someone please advise where I could buy this in 20L drums in the Sydney area.

Also is the oil filter easy to purchase as well or do I get Jeep dealer to provide.

Many thanks

realistically, there is no need to change the oil that often. that oil can last up to 20,000kms without changing and still be ok. the only place u can buy that oil is direct from mobil

That's interesting, according the manual, there are two schedules - Schedule A suggests replacing oil every 10k and Schedule B suggests every 5k. I believe I'm in Schedule B as I drive 80kms each day to work and back in heavy inner Sydney traffic.

in ml class mercs which have the same engine, they normally get serviced every 15-20000kms but being in the country, we dont see many cars that do inner city driving. if it were my car, iwould change the oil every 5000kms and the filter every 10000kms

Anybody know where this oil can be purchased in Melbourne and for how much?

Also, as a side question, does fresh engine oil go black almost immediately after an oil and filter change? I noticed this with the engine the last time I used Penrite Enviro+ 5W-40 oil (which meets the MB229.51 specification).
