Default What's it like living with a WG GC Overland V8

Hi there,
I'm about to take the plunge and buy a 2003 onward Overland Grand Cherokee. What are they like to live with?
e.g
Repaires.
Fuel consumption.
Comfort.
Performance.
Off Road.
As a daily driver.

I've had a TJ Wrangler before so I know about the " It's a Jeep thing" and " Just Empty Every Pocket" which is what TJ's do.

I've loved these things since they first come to our market, I nearly bought one brand new.

Are the later models a safer bet or are they all pretty much the same? WJ/WG.

For around the $25 000 mark they look a bargain.

Am I kidding myself or is it worth a go again at owning another Jeep?
Cheers.

Parts and service can be costly, I only get my servicing done at a dealer due to warranty.

Fuel consumption, mine sits around 14.5l/100km and I use the power, driving like a nanna will get alot better economy.

Comfort, It's like driving a lounge chair around.

Off-road, I've found mine to be incredibly capable for ordinary street tyres.

Fuel consumption is about equal to other 2ton petrol 4x4's .
Performance from the HO engine is great, feed it PULP or use more and get less.
Comfort is good other than the smallish footwell.
Overlanders sit lower than LTD or Laredo's so you have less clearance off-road.
Daily driver its too easy(with rear parking sensors).

it's awesome living with one.
-Fuel consumption as said about the same as other 4wd's but WAY more power
-Repaires: I'm a uni student with no mechanical background and have found it pretty easy to do all repairs myself
-Comfort: don't think you'll find a more comfortable 4wd - the seats are awesome!
-Performance: as said, not really any more powerful REAL 4wds (unless you're looking at an $80000 twin turbo V8 landcruiser)
Off Road: get quadra-drive and you'll go everywhere - easily keep up with patrols etc
As a daily driver: heaps of power, good stock sound system, relatively small for a 4wd, stylish looking 4wd but remember it has solid axles front and rear. Doesn't drive anywhere near as well as a pajero for instance. I don't mind it - i see it as being an 'involved' drive, where you have to control the car, whereas a pajero you just sit in it and point and shoot
-Parts can be pretty cheap if you look in the right places, they're a very popular car in the US

ive had my 03 gc overland for a month.
repairs arent cheap but basic service stuff is reasonably priced
fuel economy isnt great but pulp gives a noticeable difference there
comfort is second to none for a 4wd
performance is fantastic for a 4wd nearly as quick as my ba falcon
off road they are ok clearance is the only limiting factor easily fixed witha lift kit
daily driving is fantastic with all the fruit they have

all up it is the best vehicle ive ever owned

Thanks but I've got to trade in my Hilux so a dealer would be what I'm looking for.
