Default WH GC Diesel fuel leak

We have had our WH for about 12 months. Purchased used at about 115,000KM. Lovely car, never been off road or towed anything, but last night after an airport pick up we got home and it stank of diesel. Got the gear out of the back and the whole back bumper was coated with the stuff.
This morning it still stinks inside and out even though the overnight rain cleaned up the bumper.
Had a look online and it could be any number of things from a simple $4 fix to several hundred $s.
Anyway it's on the back of a truck and on the way to the dealer.
Anyone else had this occur?? as I am now having second thoughts as to whether this will be the vehicle to explore oz with.
Never had a problem with the Paj!

Another issue is a leaking sun roof. This is minor to the fuel leak but still an issue. Drivers side was saturated last time I washed it.
Very frustrating.

You'd be better off posting this in the WH section of the forum

Sun roof will probably be a blocked drain. More info on the USA forums then here.

More info on the fuel leak? Any signs of diesel forward from the front doors? In the centre of the fuel filter there is a bleeder valve, could be leaking there.

As you said could be simple or a tank replacement.

The only problems I have read about are rusted tanks in the USA due to the salting of icy roads over there. CRD tanks are steal in the USA I am not 100% that the Aussie spec are too.

Start with the basics, fill hose & vent.

There is only one fuel line (no return to the tank) so one less thing to check.

Sun roof is a simple 5 min fix, the drain hoses will be blocked at the front, just get a compressor and blow them out.

Do you get a strong diesel smell inside the car while its running if so, take off your engine cover and see if the filter is wet, mine had a hose clamp come lose and leaked in to the valley and down on to the exhaust, another simple 5 min fix.
Hopefully your is something like that.

Thanks to all who replied. I appreciate all the comments.

The dealer fixed the fuel leak problem. Apparently a perished 'O' ring, and they adjusted the sunroof. The sunroof is now flush with the metal roof when closed.

I'm new to diesels so this is a steep learning curve. I'll get under the bonnet on Saturday and familiarise myself with this strange beast.

The USA forums and YouTube videos are also very good.
