Default WH: 5.7 my build up

We have owned a JK crd auto since new in 07, but recently sold our small caravan and ordered a new Jayco, tow rating of the JK would be maxed out so we started looking at our options, went and looked at a few GU's and 100 series but the really didn't impress me or my wife so we had a look at an 05 WH 5.7 limited, the first thing my wife said when she saw the grand was there is no way were buying a 100 series. So the WH is now in the driveway and the JK is gone, mods have already started on the grand and more being planned for the future, nothing to extreme just a smallish lift to give more clearance for the JK rubi wheels and tyres that I have already fitted and stiffen up the rear a bit for towing, also thinking ARB front bar and some extra lights, electric brake unit and fit the ARB compressor and GME uhf I removed from the JK before selling. Her are a few pics one from when we brought it home and one as it sits now.

Will you be replacing the side step with something stronger?

Looking good there.

This won't be doing any serious wheeling, mainly a tow vehicle for our caravan, but I'm thinking about tacking the steps off as they are not really needed, and just limit clearance.

I agree Briteway, after a crd JK for the last 8 years, I'm loving the power and comfort, it's just the lack of aftermarket support that gets a bit frustrating. Also not much info on hear re: build up's. If anyone has fitted an arb compressor can they give me hints on the location, atm I'm looking at putting it under the rear seat.

Don't know about the compressor, I carry a portable one.

Since you got a HEMI like myself, you can get the Superchips Flashpaq tuner from the States, which will give you some more ponies and tighten gears. Must have.

Also, go to an exhaust shop and gut out that stock Chrysler muffler and get a hiflo Lukey. It only cost me something like $150 from memory. Big difference and I love it. Here's my video: http://youtu.be/JTAXlmouNIo

We know that the aftermarket support isn't great, but there ARE ways to get the upgrades done.

You should also install a catch can. I just emptied mine again last weekend. So glad I'm saving the engine from that gunk.

I also built my own rock sliders. There's a thread on here somewhere (edit: try this: http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=116022).

I've also raised mine to 5 inches of lift and running 33" muddies for wheeling but running around with 31" muddies.

Thanks mate, I've been looking at the flashpacs and will get one soon, the wife has already told me I have to get something done with the exhaust as it's to quiet, I've been looking at Stu's lift but $$$ are a bit rare ATM so seeing if I can piece together something myself, I'm not looking for a lot of travel but need to make it suitable to tow our new van.
