Oh my gosh! Sorry I didn't realised you used the FUCHS in the TC... I don't know the viscosity of the Nv247 / Mobil424, but I'm certain that it would be much thinner than 75W-140 as the TC is chain-driven.

So yes you're right, your problems are most-likely in the transfer-case.

I'm not familiar with the CRDs or WJ/WGs; but I don't think there has been a 2.7L CRD with QDII, as the 2.7 was only in the WJ/WG (I think?) and certainly QDII is only in the WH/WK.

You should change the TC oil ASAP, and probably leave a complaint with your mechanic if they recommended that oil.

I had the driveline clunk noise on my WJ so decided to do all the fluids first.

I found that Mobilfluid 424 in 1 Litre bottles is carried as standard in Sydney 7/Eleven Mobil petrol stations. $13.80 each. Quicker and easier than buying off ECL etc. and only $2 more per litre if you factor in freight..

Much cheaper than the $43.63 per quart (946ml) for Mopar NP247 Transfer Case from Chrysler/Jeep.

Fixed my problem - which was such a loud clunk/grind that I thought my transfer case was shot. Now it runs smoother than i can ever remember..

I think its just a label change. I can find only 1 424 on the Mobil site.
The spec's on the rear label are the same as my bottle.

This is what my bottle looks like.
