Well the 2012 GC diesel Overland has finished its current NZ trip.10000 klms
in three months variety of NZ roads average fuel consumption 8.3 lph ks . Wife, plus luggage .New Goodyear Wranglers on yesterday, same price as in Aust ,old ones did 34000ks from new ,but NZ roads notorious for tyre wear as course chip laid.Coolant change $120.00, oil change $60.00 ,supplied Penrite ,Ryco filter.
No suspension airbag ,alternator problems ,fp relay played up a few times ,oil stayed very clean even with no Provent.Replaced rear upper shock mounts which made a big improvement in handling ,plus got rid of annoying knock.Still say these vehicles are best bang for your buck on the road! Back to Aust Monday!

Where did you get your rear upper shocks mounts from as I have ignored mine for 10 years but if there is an easy fix it’s something I will do

The ones that fitted my Quadralift airbag suspension fit the std rear spring set up as well. The onlyones that were different were for the Nivomet shocks and from memory had bigger shaft dia.

That trip is over 2890 kms and all good...no dramas at all with Jeep or van. As noted above oil and coolant temps where I wanted them to be.
When I took this Jeep on it's first trip towing the van I wasn't able to hold 100kmh on flat road without the coolant rising to 110c and oil at 115c and rising, having to drop back to 90kmh to see temps drop. Any even slight hills saw oil at 122c plus and coolant 110c - 112c...crazy stuff.

This trip in 40 degree ambient at 100kmh coolant 95c - 96c and oil 105c - 106c. Cunninghams Gap saw oil at 115c for a couple of minutes before falling back to 110c, then back to 105c. Coolant peaked at 105c then fell back to 98c....on the run down the other side coolant fell to as low as 88c and oil under 100c.

Fuel consumption averaged 16.32 litres per 100k, 6.15 k's per litre. (17.5 mpg in the old lingo).
I did spend majority of the time running in 7th gear at around 1800rpm giving an indicated road speed of around 95kmh, only dropping to 8th on down hill stuff.
I really don't like 8th gear especially towing as the engine revs are far too low for my liking given the load...being too these VM's have imo a low oil pressure to begin with.
Next trip in a few weeks...WA
