Default 2015 WK over heating after turbo cooler hose replaced

Our 2015 WK 3 litre diesel has just done 190,000 klms mostly highway driving and its never played up. But we were served the turbo cooler hose crack issue. We had it replaced locally by a very good mechanic, he lifted the top of the engine and sorted the problem. I refit the cooling system hoses and have bled the system for 45 minutes three times with the heaters on flat out, it has a new thermostat fitted, I take the car out for a drive and within 15 minutes it over heats very quickly. Have checked all connections etc, the radiator hoses are as hard as rocks to squeeze when it does this and there is no loss of coolant. No water in the oil and no oil in the water. Have been working on this all easter with no good result, replace those stupid spring clamps on all connections with worm drive ones as well. Any one had this happen before assistance greatly appreciated.

Pointing to a gut full of air, pays to have the front of the jeep up high as possible( park on an incline, front on ramps so that all the air will bleed

Yep, my WJ V8 was a pain in the balls to bleed too, I found it best on my driveway (incline) pumped all the air out, you gotta keep going until NO more air bubbles at all come through the system

Did the engine take the full amount of fluid if not then you still have some air in the system............ I have always filled as much as I can then run the engine and poured in as needed, the thing is the thermostat has to open so it will flow, once that happens the air will dispel otherwise its only a small hole to get through, if you have put in the right amount of coolant then I would say the thermostat isn't opening so its stuffed....
To test it get a pot of boiling water and drop it in, you should see the valve open....

Faulty 'new' thermostats that stick closed are not uncommon, worth testing it if the bleeding has been done correctly and the problem still exists.

I hope its an air lock because a blown head gasket can pull that trick. If further bleeding doesn't yield any results it might be time to get a combustion gas check done on the cooling system
