Excellent.

I have a copy of ECM Titanium from a friendly Chinese purveyor of 'affordable' software I'm not sure if the file format using MPPS hardware is the same as using AlienTech hardware ? Will find out when I get home next week & attempt to 'read' my car's ECU with the newly acquired hardware !

If the file format is the same & I can open it in ECM Titanium, will see what is readily adjusted & what isn't ? I don't intend to modify my own file for upload into the vehicles ECU but definitely want to compare the original file to the modified one supplied by Dyno-chiptuning.com that has been modified to remove the EGR & swirl motor + what is done to achieve the increased output.

Will probably get the vehicle run on a local Dyno before uploading the new modified file, then do another run after the modified file is installed.
Just careful with the Chinese clones, you don't want to brick your ECU

Finally home & got the opportunity to try out this MPPS adaptor !

Had to partition the hard drive on my laptop & install Win XP to be able to install the supplied software. Got it all working, set up a battery charger onto the battery of the vehicle to ensure stable voltage, set up the laptop in the vehicle WITH 240v power adaptor plugged in, plugged in the ODB2 connector & initiated the program to interface with the ECU. Selected ECU Id tab to 'read' the ID of the ECU ... which it did do & filled the RH info box with all the vehicle / ECU info. By now I'm quite thrilled its working !

As it has read the ECU ID, I then select 'READ' to access the ECU file ... only to have a RED Error message in the box below 'INVALID KEY' !

Searched Mr Google for an explanation ... & come up with this:

The "invalid key" error says that your flash reading program performed a security access sequence with a wrong key.
After this, the ECU will lock for a certain time (about 5 or 10 minutes) and reject any new security access during the lock time with cause "Required time delay not expired".
The lock time decreases only when you have connected a tester to the ECU with an active communication session.
To fix your problem you will have to correct the key algorithm in your flashing tool for the ECU type you want to use

So whilst searching, I also found another thread relating to EXACTLY what I was attempting to do on another Jeep Forum: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB...496194e18f2cc6

The opening sentence says it all !

Current car list (diesel)-
2005-2007 2.8 Jeep Liberty/Cherokee (KJ)
2003 2.8 Jeep Cherokee (KJ)
2002-2004 2.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ)
Does not work with the WK Grand Cherokee CRD 3.0

So it looks like this Tool won't communicate with my ECU ... so will need another tool so will try a China Clone Kess V2 5.017.

I think this is one of the reasons that tuners charge big dollars for the job they do.

Search for what mods people do to the chinese Kess clone, I think they are important.

You will need correct checksums for the hex files. If you use the online services they will provide hex files with correct checksums.

Looks like your tool works with the 2.7 WJ, I might buy it from you if you intend to sell it
