Ok Today's news.
The DRL's are there and operational - all automatic. It must be the aircraft pilot in me that learn't to never trust anything - especially if its 'automatic'.
Its a bit crazy that you cant really check something is working and there is no indicator.
But sure enough, armed with a second driver, they can be observed to work.
Whilst using said second driver we sent the truck around the now very slushy back yard.
No problems at all! Tried it in 'Auto' and 'Mud' all the same - perfect behaviour.
How do you like this for a theory. My LC200 spent years without going into Low range or having centre diff lock engaged. Then when they were activated things played up - like refusing to engage or refusing to dis-engage. So I got into the habit of cycling these buttons ON a few times per year just because I could. No more problems!
Is it possible that this Jeep has had such an easy life that the transmission has never had to deal with things like one wheel slipping?
After a couple of days of trying the back yard - for a total of less than 5 minutes - the juices/oils are flowing now and working A-OK.
Its a theory anyway.
And I found the build-sheet site that Farwest refered to, well I found one anyway:

Alas for my VIN it just returns 'Oops - Something went wrong'
Thanks again
